tara moriarty has more. >> reporter: it's starting to get warm. the sun is coming up it's very calm in the harbor. you can see this big sort of hill with the golf bag looking thing on top of it. that's pillar point is where the mavericks competition takes place. some sunday there will be no access to the beach or bluff to watch the surfers. it is simply too dangerous. the national weather service is warning of possible sneaker waves and lasting through late tomorrow morning. tragedy struck this new year's day, when a 59-year-old man was swept out to sea. then two days after christmas a man and his 9-year-old son were swept off the rocks while fishing in the marin hedlunds. you may remember this video from 2010, unexpected waves came onshore and swept passengers. sudden waves can strike with a force to knock people unconscious. they are pushed back in the ocean, sometimes pushed on the rocks before they can swim back. so a sneaker wave warning on the sonoma coastline. officials have issued a high surf advisory from sonoma county to monterey county.

ktvu's tara moriarty just spoke to a relative of one of these young victims. tara? >> reporter: yeah. we just spoke to the sister of one of the victims. she said her brother and cousins were standing out here on the sidewalk. they were waiting for their aunt to arrive to pick them up. when a car pull the boys drove by, words were exchanged, they kept going, did a u-turn, came back, the group started fighting. she said her brother tried not to say anything and then all of a sudden, they opened fire. you can actually see where there's still two bullet holes. one is above the garage, the other is near the tree. now, the sister says that the family is understandably scared because this happened last night around 6:00 off grandville. investigators say this shooting left four young people ranging in age from 14 to 16 seriously wounded. we also understand there was another person in the group but they were not hurt. luckily, all of these boys were expected to survive. they were struck by bullets from a passing car with about three to four males inside. we spoke to the next

tara moriarty is live with more. >> reporter: good morning. a sheriff's deputy made the gruesome discovery inside the trunk of that car parked not too far from where we are near the sonoma state university campus. it was a gold-colored older model sedan parked on petaluma road near east tecate avenue. the deputy spotted it and then saw what was possible evidence inside the car. he ran the license plates and discovered that the car was linked to a crime that happened in santa rosa friday. then when he popped open the trunk, he found a body wrapped inside of a blanket. investigator have not released the victim's identify and they are not saying how that individual died and they are not commenting on the evidence. they are looking for a person wanted for questioning in connection with that crime. we've been in touch with the sonoma county sheriff's office and the police. we're hoping to learn more information later this morning. >>> 23-year-old anthony donaldson has been missing since december 24th when police stopped him for suspected drunk driv
